Teaching like all other “helpful” professions, is a generator of high levels of stress. Developing personal skills to manage stress correctly is a growing need among the teaching community in order to provide adequate professional services without damaging their own health. Practicing sports is a measure of proven effectiveness to give the body a wide repertoire of defense against stress. The spectrum of benefits range from the adaptive responses generated by the body through physical conditioning, improving the level of interaction between the various organs and systems related to stress response, to cognitive learning generated through psychological training that accompanies high-competition sport practice.
