The article seeks to reflect about the individual in present time and its relationship with stress through a comprehensive outlook. Emphasis is placed on the need to visualize ourselves holistically as human beings, because we all have a biological, a psychological and a social dimension. Later on, the author contextualizes the human being of this era according to the philosophical posture of postmodernism. The author questions how have we changed through time and how our lifestyle has generated the appereance of stress in multiple and diverse situations. Likewise, there is a review of interesting facts on stress and its construction as a usual term in our society. It is reflected from the professional practice of psychology and psychotherapy, where people are listened to and accompanied in situations that drift from our lifestyle. Finally, punctual recommendations and activities are offered that, when practiced, can lead us to increase our self-knowledge and our ability to cope with stress in a successful way.
