Abstract

In León, Guanajuato there are multiple zones susceptible to community cultural work for social development, such as the polygons of poverty Las Joyas, Jacinto López, Piletas, Ten de Mayo, Castles, Medina, San Francisco and San Juan de Abajo. Considering the vulnerable situation of these communities the knowledge promoted by the new generations of cultural managers are a conscious work with people from suburbs suffering a high degree of poverty, marginalization and social backwardness, and a high crime rate. Cultural, artistic and social participation events have been carried out as strategies to prevent crime and violence.

This article discusses the importance of recognizing Cultural Institute of Leon’s projects related to community cultural management and groups of independent artists that organically seek to promote art as a way of generating communities with a higher quality of life and coexistence. Some proposals are presented for the reinforcement and monitoring of independent groups with social focus, in order to ensure the continuity of projection, development and evolution of each of these proposals for the benefit of marginalized populations.
