Abstract

During a doctoral stay at the UPAEP University, an interview with Martin Lopez Calva, PhD, was conducted to understand what his proposal of personalizing education consist of, and how this proposal answers the challenges of current societies. Topics such as the criticism of humanism, the role that culture plays in the process of becoming a person, and the importance of having aesthetic experiences are discussed, as well as those issues that, for Dr. Lopez Calva, are the most urgent regarding formal education: the development of critical thinking, and the ability to make ethical decisions.
