Since September 11th, 2001, the Islamist terrorism has been subject of concern and debates for many that, up to now, have just considered it as a security issue, distant and marginal. Since then, analysis, news, and intellectual debates about the nature and real extent of such terrorism have multiplied. However, they are all partial visions that, despite their interest, are difficult to understand to the newcomers to initiate in this topic. This article offers a simple but no less rigorous approach about the Islamic-inspired terrorism. In these pages, its objectives and its probable evolution towards the near future are described. It is explored on the motivation of the terrorist suicide bombers, as well as how far the Islamist terrorism confirms the existance of a clash of civilizations. The article gives a general vision of the Islamist terrorism in the world, which kind of groups participate in the armed yihad and the real importance of Al-Qaeda network.
