Abstract

The 2018 election will be the largest in Mexican history. 3,400 officials will be elected by popular vote. Among the issues that candidates and voters debate are the future of the PRI and current leadership, the drug war, the mood voters in an atmosphere of anger and fear, and the question of whether opposition parties to convince voters that they can implement positive changes. But most of all, this election is an opportunity for Christians to assert our citizenship, to bring hope to public life, and to make voting an expression of the power of citizens. In the face of the Kakistocracy, we Christians believe that we can help to humanize the society we live in. The upcoming elections provide an opportunity to advance the struggle for justice rooted in faith.
