The following text analyses the relationship between repertory and musical meaning, Examining the work of the Chilean ensemble Barroco Andino [Andean Baroque], the paper explains how the typical “classic” sound is resignified by musical strategies such as (inter)texture, Andean instrumentation, performance decisions and customs. The text concludes that re-signifying implies the transformation of both Andean concept of music and Classical idea of sound, due to the implementation of new version conceived as new “originals”.
