The article discusses the long journey that women have traveled to force their political rights. Even under adverse conditions, the struggle has not ended. Women have continued to fight and exceptionally have found ways to overcome the obstacles that systematically hinder their access to formal institutional power. They have been shaping their citizenship in social movements as well as demand and support for the various reforms and decisions on electoral matters, strengthening their leadership and ability to influence the agenda items. There have been some advances but are still insufficient.
