Urban studies from feminist geography have steadily developed during the second half of the twentieth century; first in Anglo-Saxon countries and more recently in Spain and Latin America. This article examines the main contributions of this scope, as well as the problems and features of the discipline. The study carries out a documentary research taking into account the progress of gender perspective in geography, urbanism and architecture in Mexico. Lastly, it outlines the challenges for the discipline, and points out that research in this area is notably scarce in the country; firstly by making women visible, and secondly by showing their problems, necessities, roles and contributions in their environment.
