Abstract

Quite often, we have found in many places a foolish speech that question: Why we insistent in gender equality? ... What else do women want? ... What need women to feel in equality? It is a speech that permeates all actions, at home and the streets, at classroom and courts, in the laws and in public politics.
This article show the reasons that gender equality is an unfulfilled promise, despite the best efforts of States in the world.
The text discusses what is the situation of gender inequality, what are the topics that causing this promise, and how we have progressed in Mexico. It discusses why although Mexico has advanced in a legal framework of women’s rights, it has encountered obstacles in its application and laws have not caused a favorably impact in the women´s lives.
This article we consider legislative action as a condition for the advancement of women and the gender equality as a sine qua non condition for development; also it outlines what should be the legislative and policy agenda to reduce gender inequality gaps.
