Abstract

Nowadays Internet is producing a quick change in the ways people live, modifying the way in which we relate to each other. An exaggerated use of Internet is associated to the diminishment of communication between family members at home and an increment in the levels of insulation, low self-esteem and depression. Controversy still exists regarding whether they are caused by the Internet addiction or if these psychological problems potency the addiction. In this study, two samples of children population were analyzed, who tend to minimize the use of Internet (normalizing it), being this the main obstacle to detect the existence of an addiction. A tendency exists to place themselves in the category of “users without problems”, for this reason there are not triggers or signals that make evident an addiction in an initial exploratio.
