Abstract

In the world, between 80 and 98% of children suffer corporal punishment at home, and a third or more of them receive very severe corporal punishment applied with utensils. Why is this practice so deeply rooted? What are the reasons for sustaining a method that violates the well-being and dignity of children? What are the implications for the societies that practice it? How can these methods be reduced or eradicated? These are the questions I will address in this paper.
