Abstract

In his sculptural work, J. Bernardo Mariqueo shows that he has "seen something of the world", both through a vision close to nature due to his childhood of Mapuche origin (mapu: earth, che: people), and through the vision of living in big cities - Santiago de Chile, Berlin, Mexico City. Hence, in his work we observe snakes that make reference not only to the animal-reptile as representative of the earth, but to the mythical animal whose nature of stealth and mystery represents the connection between heaven and earth.
