Social cohesion is a consequence or result of a series of conditions historically constructed in any society. Among these is the idea of belonging to a community and the commitment this generates to attend to its needs and respect its rules of coexistence through diverse institutional arrangements. As global processes advance in the economy, communications, politics, demographics and culture, social cohesion faces severe challenges, as it is influenced by different perceptions coming from other national or regional realities.
