Mountain Women
Sowing knowledge among trails and archetypes

This article analyzes the life experiences of two mountaineer women from León, Guanajuato, as a starting point to explore the construction of new female archetypes through mountain practice. Based on in-depth interviews, it examines how hiking and mountaineering have influenced their personal development, leadership skills, and decision-making, enabling them to challenge traditional gender roles. The study also delves into the redefinition of fear, self-knowledge, and the role of social imaginaries in shaping unconventional female identities. These processes are linked to archetypal notions and collective symbols that transcend sports to become forms of social transformation and empowerment.
