From the second half of the 18th century, the importance and space given to education in New Spanish society gradually expanded. This article analyzes how Enlightenment debates transformed education, the contributions of the Jesuits in New Spain, and their impact on the formation of citizens and communities, integrating humanistic, philosophical, and pedagogical ideas.
