Abstract

This article addresses the need for a national identity to advance a free and sovereign country, as well as the important role of the nation-state project in building that identity. Key concepts such as nation, identity, and national identity are analyzed, and the challenges faced by the Mexican state in the context of globalization and neoliberal proposals that have weakened the suprainstitution of the state are presented.
