This article analyzes the life and contributions of Don José Mariano de Sardaneta y Llorente, second Marquis of Rayas, highlighting his political and economic involvement in independent Mexico. Through his engagement in political liberalism and mining administration, the text explores how his figure connects the tensions between the elites and social movements during the transition from the viceregal period to independence.
