Abstract

This article addresses the need for an ethics based on compassion as a response to the limitations of Enlightenment ethics. From a philosophical perspective, it examines the critique of modernity and the notion of universality, proposing an ethical vision that emphasizes the uniqueness of the "you" and the importance of suffering as a historical category. Drawing on the thought of Hermann Cohen, it argues that compassion is the core of morality and a path toward social justice, contrasting with metaphysical perspectives that treat suffering as an inevitability.
