In Mexico there are chronic disease problems like cancer, diabetes, obesity, Alzheimer and cardiovascular diseases associated to several causes; between them the excessive intake of highly modified and industrialized food and beverages. This has certainly affected the population from social and cultural aspects causing significant changes to a nation. On the other hand, research in molecular nutrition (nutrigenomics) is contributing with significant advances to solve these health situations in both clinical aspects of social transcendence. Nutrigenomic is an interdisciplinary science that involves health, diet and the human genome. In this article an anthropocentric view of molecular nutrition in the treatment of chronic diseases in Mexican populations is presented.
