Abstract

This article aims to bring together different aspects of the so-called food ethics in the production and consumption of transgenic foods. The presence of corporations that dominate the global market, in addition to the distrust of consumers for acquiring "contaminated" foods, are two of the attitudes against this type of food. Regarding the latter, the consumer's decision to purchase these foods and the information to be provided derive in the so-called food ethics, involving the rights of consumers and the benefits for farmers, in order to fight hunger worldwide. Here, genetic engineering is a clear example of the good/bad dualism that the integration of science and technology have in society, where the benefit of humanity should come before everything else.
