The objective of this paper is to analyze and question the effects of the Open Educational Movement, which is promoting the change towards an education that contemplates the development and use of Open Educational Resources (OER). This text invites to reflect on the effects of these initiatives and new movements at international and national level; an open and quality education represents a great challenge for most of the academic communities in Latin America, where it is evident the need to promote innovation in teaching practice and it is also vital to be able to fully experience the benefits of the Open Educational Movement.
