Abstract

This paper aims to offer elements to broaden the reflection on the phenomenon of suicide in adolescents and young people as one of the disorders "associated with contemporary life". It seeks to raise awareness of the responsibility of the different actors in society in terms of diagnosis, prevention and care. On this occasion, we focus on the educational environment as the privileged space for learning, whose intervention has been directed to the development of cognitive skills of students, but now with the challenge of expanding its spectrum of action towards the socio-affective formation of students through programs that intentionally attend to the development of emotional intelligence and social skills, which is the central axis of the proposal presented for the prevention of suicide.
