Abstract

This issue of Entretextos reflects on the city as a living organism shaped by the relationship between nature, architecture, and society. It compares urban elements to vital organs: streets, squares, parks, and public buildings perform functions similar to circulatory systems, lungs, and symbolic spaces that sustain collective life. Likewise, it proposes that the city is a language capable of expressing culture, memory, and civility. However, it warns that ambition, frivolity, and the loss of cultural sensitivity provoke urban and social deterioration, leading to a city that becomes sick, degraded, and close to its own symbolic disappearance.
