Reflection on the subject of citizenship is fundamental, since having citizens committed to various aspects of the society in which they live is among the factors that define the type of country and region that really operates on a daily basis. Contrary to popular belief, I affirm that the magnitude and the actual modality of citizen participation determines a particular type of democracy and, therefore, of certain public policies. The quality of democracy is directly proportional to the citizen participation variable.
